Snoddy wins sheriff's race

WINSTON COUNTY - With 100 percent of ballot boxes from the May 24, primary counted in Winston County, according to the Alabama Secretary of State's website, Winston County Chief Deputy Caleb Snoddy will be the next sheriff of Winston County. 

Hyche defeats Everett for County Commission

WINSTON COUNTY - Winston County will have a new commissioner for District 1.

Rutger Hyche received 1,875 votes or 53.82% of the vote in the May 24, Republican Primary to defeat incumbent commissioner Bobby Everett, according to results posted on the Alabama Secretary of State's website.  Everett received 1,062 votes for 30.48% of the vote.  Mike Bailey received 547 votes for 15.70% of the vote.

Winston County Probate Judge Sheila Moore, who will also be serving as absentee election manager in the primary election, shows the application that must be submitted along with a valid photo ID.
WINSTON COUNTY - The reason the primary election was moved to Tuesday, May 24, from its original June time slot, was so that the runoff election would not fall during the Independence Day holiday.
