Alabamian to offer candidate profiles for primary elections
2026 is an election year, and the Alabamian is offering local, state and federal candidates the option to run candidate profiles, either free or paid.

Qualifying underway for primary elections
WINSTON COUNTY - Qualifying began Monday, Jan. 5, in preparation for the May 19 primary elections, which will feature such county offices as sheriff, revenue commissioner, both districts of the county commission, as well as several state and federal offices.
Issue at Nesmith polling site did not affect election outcomes, Moore assured
DOUBLE SPRINGS - The Winston County Board of Registrars Office is working to correct an error from the March 5 primary election, when voters informed the office and polling officials at the Nesmith voting precinct they had received the wrong ballot for a different school board district than which they should vote.

Sheriff encourages “yes” vote on local amendment

WINSTON COUNTY - On March 5, voters will have the choice to approve a local amendment allowing the Winston County Sheriff’s Office to conduct fundraisers, with proceeds benefiting the office, as well as charitable organizations and volunteer fire departments.
Applications for absentee ballots for March 5, primaries being accepted
DOUBLE SPRINGS - The ballots for the March 5, primary election have been ordered, with the first day to apply for an absentee ballot being today, Wednesday, Jan. 10, according to Winston County Election Officer Sheila Moore.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - A present and a former Winston County Commissioner will now be running against each other for the seat of commission chairman in the March 5, 2024, primary election.
Wadsworth, Fredricks to face each other in run-off
WINSTON COUNTY - Alabama House Representative for District 14 Tim Wadsworth and Tom Fredricks will face each other in a run-off June 21, after none of the candidates in the race achieved over 50 percent of the vote.
Snoddy wins sheriff's race
WINSTON COUNTY - With 100 percent of ballot boxes from the May 24, primary counted in Winston County, according to the Alabama Secretary of State's website, Winston County Chief Deputy Caleb Snoddy will be the next sheriff of Winston County.
