HALEYVILLE - A new era in leadership has begun for the Haleyville Fire Department, with a new fire chief, new full-time personnel and a strong desire from the department and the city to move forward.

HALEYVILLE The resignation of Jeff Postell as the city’s fire chief after just a few months and the resignation of two other full-time firefighters, have left the city working to fill voids and to publicly address what Mayor Dr. Ray Boshell cited as confusion and misleading information that had been circulating regarding the issue.

New equipment a breath of fresh air for Haleyville Fire

HALEYVILLE - Haleyville Fire and Rescue (HFD) was able to replace its entire aging inventory of Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses (SCBA) this month thanks to a federal grant, the 2022 Assistance to Firefighters Grant, that it received on August 10, 2023.

“(SCBA are) our source of safe breathing air when we’re inside of a house fire or a hazardous materials scene," said Craig Thomas, HFD firefighter and paramedic. “Anytime that there’s a toxic atmosphere, we’ll wear those.”

Several families displaced in apartment building fire in Haleyville

HALEYVILLE - A fire Monday afternoon, Sept. 25, at one of the buildings comprising Beech Grove Apartments on Beech Grove Road in Haleyville has left at least 4 families displaced, with the fire damaging several units.

At least one resident had to be treated on scene by medics with Regional Paramedical Ambulance.  Haleyville Fire Department responded to the scene, receiving assistance from Delmar Fire Department and the Haleyville Rescue Squad.  Haleyville Police also responded to the scene.

Potential hazmat situation on Highway 13 in Haleyville Tuesday morning

HALEYVILLE - A trip through Haleyville during the morning of Tuesday, Aug. 8, turned into a potentially hazardous situation for a Pilgrim's Pride transport service driver, but the quick action and training of first responders kept the situation from becoming too serious.
