HALEYVILLE - A polling site for the upcoming primary elections Tuesday, June 5, will be changed, with the site moving from the 21st Street Gym to the nearby Senior Citizens Center, which will cause the center to be closed to residents.
This will be the only polling site change in Winston County for the June primary election, after a vote by the Winston County Commission and approval by the city of Haleyville.
The polling site is being moved due to the gym not having air conditioning and heating, causing complaints from poll workers and voters about sweltering conditions during the hotter months.
The Senior Center will be closed Monday, June 4, for Jefferson Davis’ birthday, then be closed for the primaries the following day.
