Sheila Gail Brannon, 69, of the Helicon community, passed away Friday, December 12, 2025 at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
Sheila was born March 19, 1956 to Gathel and Margaret Carpenter. She was a woman of prayer and faith. Serving God and people was who she was. She loved Jesus and would never pass up an opportunity to witness about Him. Sheila was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church in Addison, where she enjoyed serving in various capacities with her church family. She served as a pharmacy technician for 40 years. For 16 years, she was married to the love of her life, the late Dexter Brannon (d. 2023). Sheila loved to cook, cut up, have fun, and care for others. She was known for having family game nights where fun and laughter would erupt in the room while they played Mexican Train, Mountain Rummy, and Sequence, just to name a few. Her family was her world, and she loved them selflessly and unconditionally.
Visitation will be Monday, December 15, 2025 from 12 - 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Addison, where her funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Nesmith Cemetery. Brother Jake Russell and Brother Steton Hayes will officiate. Pallbearers will be Peyton Thompson, Blake Denson, Briley Denson, Anakin Denson, Weston Smith, Talon Woodard, and Zane Smith.
Sheila is survived by her sons, Brian Denson (Heather Lee) and Brandon Denson (Heather Cole); stepdaughters, Lafonda Tyree (Ricky), Lettica Fowler (Garry), and Sherri Willingham (Laramie); grandchildren, Peyton Thompson (Kaitlin), Blake Denson, Briley Denson, Breonna Denson, Crystal Martin, Anakin Denson, Issaac Marlin, Carpenter Denson, Declan Denson, Brandie Waldrep, Tandy Hoover, Kendra Denson, Candace Hill, Timica Lee, Chelsia Riddle, Garrett Cutcher, and Sadie Jordan; great-grandchildren, Amelia Thompson, Weston Smith, Zane Smith, Mattie Ward, Tucker Ward, Tanner Ward, Talon Woodard, Delia Woodard, Brenton Hill, Ellie Hill, Violet Riddle, Brier Riddle, Max Riddle, Kalel Hoover, Lanie Fowler, Anna-Grace Fowler, Ella Fowler, Colin Fowler, and Lucy Jordan; sister, Norma Cothran and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dexter "Doc" Brannon; parents, Gathel and Margaret Carpenter and brother-in-law, Mickey Cothran.
