HALEYVILLE - One of the assistant principals at Haleyville Elementary School has resigned before his actual effective hire date, with the board of education naming his replacement at an early morning special called meeting Thursday, July 11.
DOUBLE SPRINGS - Major personnel changes are taking place at Winston County High School ahead of the new school year starting for students on Aug. 7, when students will see a new teacher in the auto technology department as well as new faces in the positions of head football coach and band director.
BEAR CREEK - Chris Hyde has respectfully resigned from the Bear Creek Town Council, citing health concerns, leaving the council the responsibility of filling the vacancy within 60 days as required by law.
Morgan Smothers is the new chief school financial officer for Winston County Schools. She will replace Andy McCay, who has resigned to accept the same position at Walker County Schools.

HALEYVILLE - Haleyville City Schools will look a bit different next school year, based on the number of familiar faces who were approved for retirement during the Haleyville City School Board’s meeting April 27.

DOUBLE SPRINGS - When Bill Hawkins passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 25, it left a council seat vacant at the Town of Double Springs. As events unfolded at the town council meeting Monday, March 9, another seat became available when Mayor Elmo Robinson read a resignation letter by council member Bart Seymour. Seymour’s resignation is due to him no longer living in the city limits.
WINSTON COUNTY - Residents in Winston County were left shocked and the county Republican party saddened by the upcoming resignation of Tommy Moore as sheriff effective Nov. 30.
LYNN - Lynn Mayor Jeff Stokes resigned during a special-called meeting of the Lynn Town Council last night. Mayor Pro Tem Earl Gilbert is now serving as Lynn's Mayor.
BEAR CREEK - The Town of Bear Creek is now left with a second council vacancy in less than a year after Daniel Green announced he was resigning at the Aug. 6, council meeting.
