City Council to purchase vacant building for possible welcome center

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville City Council has voted to acquire a vacant Main Street building, with plans of turning the facility into a public meeting area or welcome center, pending the completion of a drainage improvement project.

Annual legislative forum moves to new location


Winston County's team of state legislators will hold a public meeting at Haleyville City Hall Thursday, Jan. 8. Pictured from left, State Representative Tracy Estes, State Senate Pro Tem Garlan Gudger and State Representative Tim Wadsworth.
The annual political forum and meet-and-greet event with Winston County’s state legislative delegation will be in a different location this year.

HALEYVILLE - Now that Dr. Bill Bishop has been named Haleyville City Schools superintendent, his former central office position of Director of Administrative Services has been dissolved, with his former responsibilities divided among three long-time system administrators.

HALEYVILLE - The first suspension of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits due to the federal government shutdown, has prompted a major and unique outreach by Haleyville City Schools to help students and community members in need this holiday season.
