Mallard denied parole

MONTGOMERY - The Alabama Bureau of Pardons and Paroles denied parole to Laura Faye Mallard on Tuesday, Dec. 10.  Mallard is serving five years for criminal possession of a forged instrument out of Lawrence County.  She was sentenced in December, 2018.

“Significant findings” send BCDA to Sunset Committee

MONTGOMERY - Auditors from the Alabama State Department of Examiners of Public Accounts - operating under the Alabama Legislature’s Sunset Committee - had “significant findings” against certain aspects of the Bear Creek Development Authority, specifically regarding mishandling of funds, which led to the board meeting Thursday, Aug. 22, before the Sunset Committee .

AHSAA Central Board of Control approves $2 million revenue share payout to member schools for 2018-19

MONTGOMERY – The Alabama High School Athletic Association Central Board of Control approved returning a record $2 million to its member schools under its Revenue Sharing Plan and also voted to waive school membership dues once again – an immediate savings of approximately $84,000 for member schools.

MONTGOMERY - The Alabama High School Athletic Association has announced fines and ejections for the 2018-19 school year in their annual report for coach/student ejections during a contest. Schools listed are those in the northern part of the state.
