HALEYVILLE  - The issue of whether or not to renew the contract of Haleyville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Holly Sutherland sparked controversy, including some strong statements made by school board members during a work session held just prior to the board meeting Tuesday afternoon, July  23.

Beloved former employee honored by Haleyville School Board

HALEYVILLE - Emotions ran high for the family of the late Juanita White at the Haleyville City Board of Education’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 22, when a “Serve With Pride” award was given in recognition of White to members of her family in attendance.

3 Coaches Resign at Haleyville City Schools

HALEYVILLE  -  Haleyville Board of Education members are seeking to fill the void in the head coaching position at Haleyville High School, after Todd McNutt resigned, along with two other coaching staff members approved at the board’s  Monday, Nov. 26 meeting.

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Board of Education has developed a new Serve with Pride award for their system with a different honoree chosen each month. For September, the award was given in honor of long time teacher and track coach Howie Lyons who retired from the system in 1996. The high school recipient for this Serve with Pride award was Tristan Carter, honored in a presentation by High School Principal Dr. Erika McCoy at the board's regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 25.

HALEYVILLE - A new award presented this month by administrators from Haleyville City Schools was in honor of long time teacher and track coach Howie Lyons, who retired from the system in 1996. The award presented by Middle School Principal  Bo Wilcoxson was to student Aynelise Vickery. The award was presented at the board of education's Tuesday, Sept. 25 meeting. A different honoree will be chosen each month.

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville City Board of Education has developed a new line of service awards  for their system, with a new honoree chosen this month. In September the Serve with Pride award was  in honor of long time high school teacher and successful track coach Howie Lyons who retired from the system in 1996. Each month, administrators from each system will highlight a student deserving of Serve with Pride awards.  Elementary Principal Christy Bice announced Boston Brewer as the elementary student at the board of education's regular session on Tuesday, Sept. 25.
