Black Pond FD in urgent need of volunteers


Black Pond Fire Chief Terry Tidwell at the community's fire station. The department does not have available personnel to response on many calls, due to a shortage of volunteers, particularly those who are EMT certified.
BLACK POND - The Black Pond Fire Department doesn’t have enough manpower to run medical calls, one of the factors that has prompted the Double Springs Fire Department to no longer run medical calls in Black Pond’s coverage area.

Black Pond Community Clean-Up Day Oct. 22

BLACK POND - The Black Pond community clean-up day will be Saturday, Oct. 22, beginning at 8 a.m.  Persons living along County Road 8 and any volunteers are asked to help clean up along the road.  Garbage bags will be available at the Black Pond Volunteer Fire Department, located on County Road 8, and the community is invited to come to the fire department for lunch around noon after the morning work.  Please make plans to help clean up and keep Black Pond a great place to live!

Black Pond VFD donates masks to Double Springs Elementary

BLACK POND - Since school has started in a pandemic, and face masks are required for all students to wear, it can be tough for the younger students, as masks get dirty, they break and they are sometimes forgotten at home. The Black Pond Volunteer Fire Department saw the need and recently donated 500 disposable face masks to Double Springs Elementary School.

Fire chief asked to resign


Dawn Carroll, Josh Tucker and “Yo” Williamson are now on the board of directors for the Black Pond Volunteer Fire Department at the meeting. They join Terry and “Duck” Tidwell as members of the board.
BLACK POND - A public message on the Facebook page Black Pond Community News posted Friday, March 6, stirred up strong emotions between members of the Black Pond Volunteer Fire Department and the public, leading to a public meeting at the fire department March 10.
