Haleyville Lions JV Claws Back, but falls just short against Russellville

The Haleyville Lions junior varsity baseball team's effort to come back from down seven runs in the sixth inning came up just short, as they fell 9-8 to Russellville on Tuesday, April 16. The Lions JV scored seven runs in the failed comeback on a, a double by Hayden Tidwell, a triple by Hayden Armstrong, and a error.

Track and field action in Russellville


A track and field meet was held in Russellville Tuesday, March 19. Local coverage schools participating included Haleyville, Phillips and Winston County. Sixteen team competed, with Winston County placing fifth, Phillips in sixth place and Haleyville in seventh place. HHS drops losses to Russellville

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Lions and Lady Lions each lost to the visiting Russellville Tigers and Lady Tigers on Thursday, Nov. 13.
The Lady Lions lost by a slim margin of four points, 42-38.
Scoring for the HHS were:
Reagan Kutis 5; Mae Boyles 9; Ashton McCullar 2; Alli Temple 7; Molly Gilbert 2; and leading scorer Catie Aldridge 13.

5K, 1 mile fun run set Saturday

RUSSELLVILLE —The RCS Education Foundation 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run will take place Saturday, Oct. 13, on and around the RCS campus. This is the third year the Foundation has hosted this event, and Foundation President Mike Mayfield said they are hoping this will be their best turnout yet.
All funds raised during the event will go toward the Foundation's main goal of awarding scholarships to RHS seniors and grants to teachers for instructional learning in their classrooms.

Lady Lions split with Russellville, Cordova

HALEYVILLE - It took five games, but the Lady Blue Devils of Cordova narrowly claimed a 4A area victory over the Haleyville Lady Lions and then defeated 5A Russville Lady Tigers Tuesday, Sept. 18, at the HHS gymnasium in a tri-match.

The Lady Lions defeated the Lady Blue Devils in the first two sets, 25-18 and 25-15. Cordova came back to win three straight, 25-22, 27-25 and 15-11.

In action against the Russellville Lady Tigers, Haleyville defeated them two straight, 25-17, 25-19.

RUSSELLVILLE - The Haleyville Lady Lions varsity volleyball team pounded out a win over the Russellville Lady Tigers Thursday, Aug. 30.
Playing in the Russellville Middle School gymnasium, the Lady Tigers won the first game 25-18. But it was the Lady Lions from there on out.  Coached by Brent McCoy and Abby Huff, Haleyville won 25-14, 25-16 and 25-15.
The Lady Lions JV team lost to Russellville 25-21 and 25-20. It was reported the eighth grade team won and seventh grade team lost.
