HALEYVILLE  - Officials at Haleyville City Schools promised seniors two major things when schools had to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic: seniors would have a graduation ceremony, and students would have a prom.
The graduation ceremony was held in May at the high school football stadium, and the next promise will be fulfilled on Saturday, June 20, when juniors and seniors and their dates will be attending “A Night Under the Stars” that will be held under tents in the front parking lot of Haleyville Elementary School.
The prom, although altered from its usual format, will not lose any elegance, despite being held outdoors.  The format of the evening will be student check-in and pictures beginning at 7 p.m. Seniors need to be at the campus by 6:45 p.m., organizers said.
This will be followed by a catered dinner served to students, who will be seated around tables in their usual social groups.
Senior walk-out and line up will begin at 8:15 p.m., with the naming of the prom king and queen at 9 p.m. The event will end at 10 p.m.
