HCS reports perfect audit

HALEYVILLE - For the first time in at least 30 years, the audit report for Haleyville City Schools was presented at an open meeting, with the school system’s new auditor giving what he referred to as one of the best and most positive financial findings for the system’s 2023 audit.

Haleyville BOE budget hearing Monday

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville City Schools Board of Education will hold its first budget hearing for the Haleyville School System for the 2025 fiscal year Monday, August 19, at 4:30 p.m. at the Haleyville Board of Education Conference Room.  
This meeting is open to the public, and all interested persons are welcome to attend.

Increased need for special education services a concern as Haleyville BOE passes budget

HALEYVILLE - The high rate that students requiring specialized instruction is increasing at Haleyville City Schools does not equal the amount of funding required, as school officials have reached out for financial assistance from their state legislators on the matter.

HALEYVILLE - As personnel adjustments are being made over the next month at Haleyville City Schools, the idea for an additional elementary assistant principal to work with the existing principals has been brought to the table for discussion.

Need for virtual school days debated by Haleyville School Board

HALEYVILLE - Differing viewpoints were shared between a member of the Haleyville Board of Education and administrators at Haleyville City Schools, as to why virtual days are still needed and being included in the 2023-2024 school calendar.

Haughton, Vickery win Haleyville School Board election

HALEYVILLE - A familiar face and a newcomer will be joining the Haleyville Board of Education.

Christopher "Boo" Haughton was overwhelmingly elected to Place 2 on the Haleyville School Board, defeating Valeria Taylor.  Haughton has served on the school board in the past.

Brian "Thumper" Vickery has defeated incumbent Kris Burleson for Place 4 on the school board.
