Arrest made in assault

HELICON - An Arley man has been taken into custody on assault charges after he allegedly repeatedly beat his neighbor in the head and neck area with a blunt object, resulting in serious injuries, according to the Winston County Sheriff’s Office.
Johnie Nekiea Lancaster, 37, of 4776 Helicon Road, has been charged with second degree assault, noted Sheriff’s Office Chief Investigator Jacob Eward.
Lancaster turned himself in at the sheriff’s office on June 23, and has since posted a $5,000 bond and been released, Eward stated.
“There’s been a surge in violent crime in Winston County in the past month,” he pointed out. “I am pleased we were able to solve this one quickly to show that if you commit a violent crime, we will charge you to the fullest extent.”
