Plans to beautify Haleyville growing

HALEYVILLE - The City of Haleyville and the Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce have literally provided some seed money, to help form a gardening or beautification committee, which plans to spruce up areas of downtown, as well as the welcome signs with flowers and landscaping.

County faces federal funding cuts

HALEYVILLE A comparison of figures from last year’s to this year’s Winston County Commission budget shows the county had some funding triumphs with grants funding projects and employee raises, while also showing significant funding cuts in some key areas.

United Way of Cullman director guest at Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce meeting

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce held its monthly meeting Friday, March 1, in the courtroom at Haleyville City Hall.  Stephanie Childers, executive director of United Way of Cullman County, was the guest speaker at the meeting.

Commission seat will be empty temporarily after general election

HALEYVILLE - Current Winston County Commissioner for District 2 David Cummings will take over as commission chairman November 13, meaning the resulting vacancy in the district 2 seat will need to be addressed.

Congressman Aderholt commits to seek funding to complete bypass project


Erosion is taking its toll on the northbound lanes of the bypass corridor that was begun by the state many years ago, but never completed.
HALEYVILLE - A ray of hope has been given about the possibility that federal funding could be used to complete a four-lane highway project that has sat dormant for years, but the process must cover many miles and cross several rough bridges before it can become a reality.
