Wreck at Black Pond

BLACK POND - The Black Pond Volunteer Fire Department was on the scene of a one-vehicle accident on County Road 8 Tuesday, March 13, at approximately 7:15 p.m.  Firefighters reportied at least one injury in the accident.

Also, a telephone pole has possibly been made unstable due to the accident.  Motorists are urged to continue to use caution through this area.

Reagan faces manslaughter charge in death of ex-boyfriend


Sherry Dianne Reagan faces charges of manslaughter, possession of marijuana second degree and possession of drug paraphernalia.
ADDISON - Sherry Dianne Reagan, 58, of 220 County Road 3730, was arrested by the Winston County Sheriff's Office early Friday, March 2, facing charges of manslaughter, in the death of her ex-boyfriend Gary Kenneth Aderholt, 61, who sustained injuries allegedly caused by Reagan during a domestic altercation that occurred at her residence.

AES welcomes Wiggins for Read Across America finale


Addison native and Bassmaster Pro Elite Series Member Jesse Wiggins with Addison Elementary’s Dr. Seuss inspired students during Read Across America Week.
ADDISON - Students at Addison Elementary School received a big boost, not only to ignite their joy of reading but also to reach their goals to make dreams come true, during a special visit Friday, March 2, from Addison High School graduate Jesse Wiggins, who tours the circuit with the Bassmaster Pro Elite Series.

Parents meeting set for girls interested in tryouts for majorette or color guard at HHS

HALEYVILLE - Parents of any girls who are entering the ninth grade and above for the 2018-19 school year at the Haleyville High School are invited  to attend a meeting Wednesday, March 7, at 5 p.m., in the HHS bandroom if your daughters are interested in trying out for majorette or color guard.
Majorette sponsor Amy Farris said she hopes to see many in attendance. “We are excited about the 2018 marching season,” said Mrs. Farris.

One vehicle accident occurs

HALEYVILLE - A one-vehicle  accident occurred Tuesday, March 6, around 10:30 a.m. on Highway 195 east of Haleyville across from Winston Memorial Cemetery. Haleyville Police Department officers responded, but  troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are investigating. Watch for more details concerning the accident.
