DOUBLE SPRINGS - After a 15-minute executive session discussing the good name and character of individuals, the Double Springs Town Council took action Monday, April 13, to fill two vacancies--one left by the death of Bill Hawkins, the other by the resignation of Bart Seymour.

WINSTON COUNTY - Throughout the years, weather records are continuously being broken as unusual temperatures, rainfall amounts and other weather phenomena occur. Most broken records are minor, usually within one or two degrees of a record high or record low. What is major, however, is when the big ones come through, and this winter in Winston County over the last couple months has received status as the wettest ever recorded.

Alabama Department of Corrections extending COVID-19 moratorium an additonal 30 days

Ivey announces plans to begin looking at reopening the economy

MONTGOMERY - Without giving any specifics, Governor Kay Ivey announced during a press conference Tuesday, April 14, that plans are being worked upon to begin the process of reopening Alabama's economy, as it appears that the stay-at-home order put in place April 3, is beginning to help "flatten the curve" of COVID-19 cases.

Coronavirus response teams formed to answer questions regarding State Health Order

MONTGOMERY - Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall announced Thursday, April 9, the establishment of response teams within the attorney general’s office to provide authoritative answers to law enforcement, public officials, businesses, employees and residents of Alabama concerning enforcement and compliance of the State Health Order relating to the Coronavirus-2019 pandemic issued by Governor Kay Ivey and State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris.
