Students from all levels of Haleyville City Schools present special gifts to the state visiting team of State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey, Dr. Jeff Langham, chief of staff for the state department of education, and Ryan Hollingsworth, executive director of school superintendents of Alabama.
HALEYVILLE - Alabama Superintendent of Education Dr. Eric Mackey was keynote speaker at a special State of Schools luncheon Friday, March 1, at the fellowship hall of Ninth Avenue Church of Christ.

HALEYVILLE - Alabama State Department of Education Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey, along with Dr. Jeff Langham, chief of staff for the state department of education and Ryan Hollingsworth, executive director of school superintendents of Alabama, paid a special visit Friday, March 1, to Haleyville City Schools.

Case against Cantrell dismissed

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Winston County Circuit Judge Lee Carter dismissed with prejudice the State of Alabama's case against Jarod Chase Cantrell, a former teacher and coach at Double Springs Middle School, Wednesday, Feb. 27.  A mistrial due to prosecutorial misconduct was granted on Feb. 22.  Dismissed with prejudice means the case has been permanently dismissed and cannot be brought back before the court.

Wallace State health programs offering new options, curriculum changes

HANCEVILLE - Three health programs at Wallace State Community College are making changes to expand their offerings or altering the curriculum to offer students more options to enter the workforce, to specialize in specific areas in their chosen field or to decrease the time they need to finish their degree.

Gardner named Princess of Hearts

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Kaylie Gardner, a sixth grader at Double Springs Middle School, was crowned the 2019 Princess of Hearts during the annual pageant Saturday.

McCoy named new principal of Orange Beach High School

HALEYVILLE - According to a Facebook post tonight by Baldwin County Public Schools, Dr. Erika McCoy, principal of Haleyville High School, has been named the new principal of the new Orange Beach High School.  She will begin her new post at the end of March.
