Bice named to dean’s list

HALEYVILLE - Brooklyn Bice, of Haleyville, has been named to the summer 2023 Dean's List at Palmer College of Chiropractic's Florida Campus in Port Orange, Florida.
Palmer College of Chiropractic, the first and largest college in the chiropractic profession, has campuses in Davenport, Iowa; San Jose, California; and Port Orange, Florida.

Record reserve funding may go quickly, thanks to ESSER’s end

HALEYVILLE - Although education officials are excited over the record amount of reserve funding on hand for Haleyville City Schools, they are being advised the money will be spent quickly on major needs of the system, while ESSER funds will be depleted by 2024.

Capstone Health recognized with quality award

DOUBLE SPRINGS - Capstone Health has received recognition as one of the top 2023 Community Health Center Quality and Public Health Champion awardees in the nation. Capstone Health - which has clinics in Double Springs and Nauvoo, has been named in the top 20 percent of health centers receiving Community Health Quality Recognition badges from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the Health Resources and Services Administration.

Deaths of Cullman County men found near Haleyville under investigation

HALEYVILLE - Investigation is underway to determine the cause of death of two Cullman County men whose bodies were discovered Wednesday, Nov. 8, in a vehicle parked off County Road 17 on an old logging road near Haleyville, law enforcement said.

Flint Creek Trail system in Bankhead closed until December 22

BANKHEAD NATIONAL FOREST - The USDA Forest Service has announced that the Flint Creek Trail system on the Bankhead National Forest will be closed from November 9 - December 22 due to a logging operation taking place in the area.
