Advocacy group nominates board of directors at annual meeting

LAKESHORE - The Winston County Smith Lake Advocacy Group held an annual meeting at Lakeshore Inn Restaurant on May 11, 2018, and held nominations for board of director appointees. Three members were nominated to the board: Ross Cole, Brian Kuntz and Lou Kuntz.

Large bust at former business location nets meth, marijuana, firearms

ADDISON - A former business transformed into a drug distribution center was raided Thursday, May 10, by law enforcement agencies in Winston and Cullman counties, finding 25 grams of methamphetamine, 10 to 12 grams of marijuana and 32 firearms, two of which were reported stolen.

NAUVOO - A two vehicle fiery crash around the Nauvoo area Saturday afternoon left two people dead and two others injured, one of whom being found at the bottom of a steep ravine off the highway, the other walking around on the highway, authorities on the scene said.

HAMILTON - Officials from the federal to state level gathered for the grand announcement Thursday afternoon, May 3, of a $600 million pilot program designed to help bring broadband or high speed internet into rural areas.

HAMILTON - Farmers and agriculture programs throughout the state and in the schools had some one-on-one time with federal officials during their announcement Thursday afternoon, May 3, of a $600 million pilot program that will extend broadband internet into rural areas, helping many in agriculture. The grant was administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service, funded under the Community Connect Broadband Grant Program.
