DELMAR   - A suspect tore a hole in the back wall of Delmar Quick Stop  early Friday morning, Oct. 12, in order to gain access into the store, where all of the cigarettes were cleaned out as well as all of the cash taken from the store’s ATM machine.

HALEYVILLE - Emergency responders and city officials swarmed the scene at Goar’s supermarket Monday morning, Oct. 8, after a vehicle crashed through the south entrance door, scattering debris and alarming store personnel and customers.

BEAR CREEK   - The Bear Creek Police Department was at the right place at the right time, when they caught a man on a stolen four wheeler in possession of an active methamphetamine lab and firearms in the parking lot in the presence of students at Phillips School.

HALEYVILLE     - Three people have been nabbed in a counterfeit check scheme affecting not just Haleyville but several northwest Alabama communities, where the individuals were attempting to cash bogus company checks while being in possession of bogus personal checks.

BEAR CREEK - After a one hour executive session, the Bear Creek Town Council voted by majority to name Jimmy Preston as Mayor Pro Tem in the absence of Connie Morrison who resigned earlier that day on Wednesday, October 3.

HALEYVILLE - High speed internet service is knocking on the door of Haleyville, but funding must first be secured before the project can proceed, noted Steve Foshee, who was keynote speaker along with U.S. Congressman Robert Aderholt at the Tuesday, Sept. 18 meeting of the Haleyville Civitan Club.

HALEYVILLE - The Haleyville Board of Education has developed a new Serve with Pride award for their system with a different honoree chosen each month. For September, the award was given in honor of long time teacher and track coach Howie Lyons who retired from the system in 1996. The high school recipient for this Serve with Pride award was Tristan Carter, honored in a presentation by High School Principal Dr. Erika McCoy at the board's regular meeting Tuesday, Sept. 25.
