Haleyville Lions out hit Brooks, but can’t find enough runs in loss

HALEYVILLE - Both teams were strong on the hill on Friday, May 3, but Brooks was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a 2-1 victory over Haleyville in the third round of the baseball state playoffs.
Played at Haleyville, Ben Lowman started the game for Haleyville and recorded 21 outs, pitching a terrific game. HHS lost despite out-hitting Brooks six to two.

Lions’ bats on fire, with defense ablaze to sweep round two of state baseball playoffs

Ben Lowman was the winning pitcher for game one, firing on all cylinders. He is the son of Don and Stephanie Lowman and a senior.

GRANT - Haleyville Lions baseball team, currently ranked sixth in the state,  was on fire Friday, April 26, defeating Kate Duncan Smith Daughters of American Revolution 3-2 and 12-0 in a two-game sweep at Grant.
Ben Lowman allowed just five hits from the mound for the Lions. Lowman went the entire seven innings. He surrendered two runs on five hits, striking out ten.
In the second inning, Haleyville got their offense started when Lowman grounded out, scoring a run.

Five RBI day for Gavin West benefits in Haleyville Lions JV's victory over Hamilton

Gavin West was bad news for opposing pitchers on Monday, April 15, driving in five on three hits to lead Haleyville Lions junior varsity past Hamilton 15-8. West drove in runs on a single in the first, a double in the second, and a single in the third.

Bats blistered as Haleyville collected nine hits and Hamilton tallied five in the high-scoring game.

Haleyville Lions JV Claws Back, but falls just short against Russellville

The Haleyville Lions junior varsity baseball team's effort to come back from down seven runs in the sixth inning came up just short, as they fell 9-8 to Russellville on Tuesday, April 16. The Lions JV scored seven runs in the failed comeback on a, a double by Hayden Tidwell, a triple by Hayden Armstrong, and a error.

Smith's Walk-off picture perfect ending in Addison victory over Southeastern

ADDISON - It came down to the wire on Saturday, April 20, with the Addison Bulldogs baseball team took victory on a dramatic walk-off single in the late innings that sealed their victory over Southeastern. The game was tied at one, with AHS batting in the bottom of the eighth when Kendrick Smith singled on a 0-1 count, scoring a run.

Haleyville takes first round of state playoffs

HALEYVILLE - The Fairview Aggies fired up the offense in the first inning of the first round of the state baseball playoffs Saturday, April 20, but could not hold off the Haleyville Lions. The Lions took the first game 4-3, playing at home. The game was originally scheduled for Friday, April 19, but due to inclement weather was pushed back to Saturday.
Dalton Payne hit into a fielder's choice, scoring two runs for the Aggies.
Ben Lowman got the start for Haleyville. He surrendered three runs on three hits over five innings, striking out 12.

Lynn defeats WCHS to start journey to championship

LYNN - The Lynn Bears made it a three-peat Monday, April 15, as Winston County baseball champions. They started their journey with a defeat of Winston County High School, in the county tournament that was hosted by Lynn High School, in a 13-5 victory.
Winston County fired up the offense in the first inning., with  Austin Owens driving in a run on a single.
